Internships and Fellowships
Internship & Fellowship Requirements
At the UCR School of Public Policy, experiential learning is a vital part of the academic experience for both undergraduate and graduate students. These hands-on, real world opportunities allow students to apply the concepts and skills learned in the classroom to professional settings, deepening their understanding of public policy and strengthening their career readiness.
Students are encouraged to seek internships and fellowships, whether through public, private, or nonprofit organizations, that align with their individual policy interests. Paid or funded opportunities are available for highly qualified applicants. Students can work closely with the Career Counselor and Academic Internship Coordinator to ensure their chosen experience meets program requirements and advances their professional goals. These opportunities not only connect students with valuable networks, but also prepare them to address complex policy challenges with confidence and skill.

Internship/Fellowship Opportunities
An internship is a supervised, time-limited work experience focused on learning and skill-building, usually part-time during the quarter or full-time in summer, and may be paid or unpaid. A fellowship is a competitive, structured program that combines paid or funded work with mentoring, training, and cohort activities, typically offering deeper professional development.
